Privacy Policy
This describes, in plain language, what information UnitSimple collects when you use our website and portals, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Last updated August 2026
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- You give it to us. Contact and proposal forms, rental applications, maintenance requests, and messages you send through a portal.
- Your account generates it. Property, unit, lease, and request records created while we manage a property or while you use the Platform.
- Your browser sends it. Basic technical data such as IP address, device type, and pages visited, used to keep the service secure and working.
How we use it
To provide and operate the service: responding to inquiries, evaluating applications, coordinating maintenance, producing owner reporting, and keeping accounts secure. We also use it to improve the product and to meet legal and recordkeeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only where it is needed to run the service, and only with what is needed. That includes service providers such as our hosting and database provider, the approved third-party payment provider residents use to pay rent, and — with your authorisation — a third-party tenant screening provider. We may also share information where the law requires it.
Owners see records for their own properties. Residents see their own records. Staff access is limited by role.
Rent payments
UnitSimple does not hold, pool, or distribute resident rent, and does not store bank or card credentials. Rent is handled by an approved third-party payment provider and paid to the owner-designated account. That provider's own privacy terms govern the payment details you give it.
Tenant screening
Credit and background screening is performed by a third-party consumer reporting agency, not by UnitSimple. Screening is run only with the applicant's authorisation, and the provider's disclosures and dispute process apply to the report itself.
Retention and security
We keep records for as long as needed to operate the service and to satisfy legal, accounting, and recordkeeping requirements, then delete or de-identify them. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes, portal sessions expire, and documents are served only to accounts entitled to see them.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. We do commit to notifying affected users where a notification is required by applicable law.
Your choices
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of information we hold about you, subject to the records we are required to retain. You can opt out of marketing email at any time; service messages about your account, application, or unit will still be sent.
To make a request, email support@unitsimple.com.
Children
The website and portals are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 outside of household members listed on a rental application by an adult applicant.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes affecting existing accounts will be communicated through the portal or by email.
This is a general description of our website and service practices, not legal advice, and it does not create rights beyond those provided under applicable law. Privacy laws differ by state; where a law gives you rights we have not described here, that law applies.
